5 months old

My baby is 5 months old today and she's getting so chunky. I'm starting to think she's never gonna sleep through the night; it's a little frustrating, but she's too cute to get mad about it. And the doc said about 1/2 of babies are sleeping through the night. I am getting up about 3 times, just gotta be patient and it'll come. She's my little drooler and makes bubbles all the time. When daddy comes home, she always has a big smile on her face and will just look at him. She really watches what I do, whether it's eating or brushing my teeth, she seems so interested and wants attention. I put her on the floor to play and she'll kinda squeak if I leave the room. People say she's got personality already. We tried rice cereal one night, but only added a tablespoon. We might just wait 'til 6 months, there's really no rush. I took a couple random pics of her today for 5 months.

Playing with her butterfly. I'd say this is one of her favorite toys. I actually got two of them, so now we keep one at Grandma Lindas house. And I love this hat from Bens mom.

With her baby doll she got from my Uncle Tom for Christmas.

Day at the zoo

I won 2 zoo tickets at my last MOPS meeting that expire the end of the year, so on Saturday Aaliyah had her first trip to the zoo. She slept almost the whole time, but woke up to some giraffes. It was a nice time, a little chilly, but felt like Christmas with a little snow on the ground and and hot chocolate in our hands, we were good to go. There were a bunch of kids from lunch with Santa that day, maybe we'll do that with Aaliyah some year.

Greg really enjoyed taking pictures of all the animals...of course his favorite were the deer and elk.

Had to get a picture of the Reindeer for Christmas.

In the entrance they had a lot of pretty Christmas trees decorated by kids. Couldn't get Aaliyah to look....daddy tried several times.

Random Dec

Our Christmas tree. I have a couple ornaments that light up and play music, she'll watch for a second, but then look around.

In her snowsuit. I really don't get how babies are supposed to wear snowsuits, they barely fit in the carseat! That'll be the last time she'll wear it.

Everyone says how much she looks like daddy, but here she is pretty like mommy. I'll prop her up in the basinett and she'll sit so nice while mommy makes the bed.

We went to Bayshore to see Santa. She did really well.

4 months old

My baby was 4 months old yesterday, time to have another....well, not quite yet! She had her 4 month check up and she's growing along nicely except for her head. The doctor asked if big heads were in the family. I guess she does have Greg's big head, ha! She has a birthmark on her head that we have to watch, it'll get bigger but as long as it's not in the way, it'll go away by itself by 9-12 months. At 4 months she's really smiling a lot and still loves to get her diaper changed, always moving her arms and legs. Lately she's had a couple blow-outs though! One in church; luckily she had a jumper on to cover it up! She's sitting the in bumbo good and today I took out the tray. She is starting to grab things and even grabs her pacifier sometimes and plays with it. Soon, we have to start thinking about putting her in her crib; she's still in the bassinet in our room....not looking forward to that.

Playing with her rings.

I put her on the kitchen counter while I eat lunch and make mmmm sounds and I get a big smile!

Thanksgiving

We had a nice Thanksgiving at Gr. Schmidt's this year. All of my moms brothers and sisters were there. Aaliyah got to meet so many new people. Greg unfortunately had to work, but drove up after and was able to eat some turkey. No shopping for me this Black Friday, figured it would be too crazy with Aaliyah and it's too early for me....I'm always a last minute x-mas shopper. We moved Greg's parents this weekend too. It was pretty sad for them, but will be nice having them close in Thiensville.

Here's Aaliyah with her turkey bow.

Aunt Sarah with Aaliyah...trying to make her smile, but didn't work so well.

It was a hard day yesterday, had to go to work and pick up my box. They wouldn't let me gather my things from my desk, they decided to pack it up for me; I couldn't believe it, not very happy!! I was sad, but this is what I wanted and I'm very blessed I get to spend my days with my beautiful daughter.
Today, we went to our 2nd MOPS meeting. She is such a good girl at daycare. I think we're really going to like it. Thanks Julie for the suggestion.

1st Halloween

Here she is in her Halloween outfit from Kim and Elizabeth.

We had a little photo shoot outside, got a couple good ones, before she would topple over.

Funny story

So, Aaliyah came as a surprise. My due date was August 21 and she came July 29. We didn't have our bags packed or have a car seat. I was planning on going to Babys R Us that Saturday to pick one up. Greg frantically packed my bag with a couple sweatshirts(hello, it's July!). Aaliyah was born at 12:51 am Friday morning. The next day, Greg went to Target to pick up the car seat and put it together in the parking lot.

Going home. ( : Love my outfit Greg packed for me...

Hospital Pics

Little Aaliyah in my arms all wrapped up.

By the time we left the hospital, Greg was a pro at swaddling her....he called her our peanut burrito.

I loved holding her like this.

Aaliyah is 3 months already...but I decided to start a blog. I'm not creative and have no idea what I'm doing, but I'll give it a shot. And since we decided that I'll be a stay at home mom, I'll have time to keep everyone updated on our little peanut. That's why it only took me 3 months to get it started. Here's her first photo.
