My big girl

It's amazing how a simple hairstyle can make someone look so much older.  I put a ponytail in Aaliyah's hair and she looks so old!  Super cute of course, but not my baby anymore.   Here she is eating a freezer pop.  She had to try Mommy's too....that's why she has two.

Johns cottage

The Friday after the 4th, we went to Wautoma to John's cottage.  The weather was great, nice and hot!  Aaliyah did good sleeping in the tent; much better as she gets older.  She had fun playing with all the other kids.  We played in the sand, went on a paddle boat ride, swam in the water and hung out on a raft, made water balloons, blew bubbles, had a bonfire, decorated cookies and swung on a big swing. There was definitely enough to keep her busy!

On the big swing with Grandma

Waiting patiently for the sprinkles.  Aunt Carol brought the cookies and all the fixings for the kids to decorate their own cookie, it was great.

Got the sprinkles

Say cheese

I got a water balloon....not sure what to do with it

They all stood in a row and counted to 5 to throw it.  Aaliyah just kept hers, didn't quite understand.  She didn't want to break her "ball"

Summer Fun

At the end of June, we went to Oshkosh for my friends wedding reception.  She got married in April and had a BBQ at their house to celebrate.  Aaliyah got to go in a bouncy house for the first time!  It was hard because she couldn't go in with all the older kids, but when she got a chance she went in and bounced.
She loved throwing the ball

Mequon celebrated the 4th of July the weekend before.  It was pretty cold for the parade, but was just happy it didn't get rained out this time.

A lot of places handed out freezer pops rather than candy.

Wouldn't let go of her candy

On the 4th of July, we went to Sheboygan and visited some friends.  Her she is enjoying a frozen yogurt with Elizabeth.

Fernandez Family

Glenn came home for a visit mid-June and we all got together on the 17th at our house.  It doesn't happen that often that everyone is together, so we took advantage and took a nice family pic.

Hawaii Part III

Towards the end of our trip, we went to Pearl Harbor.  We went early in the morning so we could get tickets for the USS Arizona.  They only hand out a certain number per day and we were lucky enough to get some for 1:00, the last one of the day.
Aaliyah was an awesome traveler and I can't wait for our next family vacation.....which will be a family of 4!

Hawaii Part II

After the wedding, we rented a car and stayed at a condo for 5 nights in Kailua and got to explore on our own.  We went to a couple different beaches; they were a short drive from our place.  One of the days we spent at at Polynesian Culture Center.  They had a lot of different activities for each island, then had a dinner buffet and watched the evening show.  Sea Life Park was fun, we saw a couple different shows with dolphins, penguins and sea lions.  Aaliyah got to feed the turtles.
Chai recommended an awesome breakfast place that had macadamia nut pancakes.  We went there twice cuz they were so good!  Another recommendation was for Matsumoto's Shaved Ice and the Shrimp Shack.  They both were awesome!

At the culture center, not sure what the game is called, but she enjoyed trying to swing the balls.

Hawaii Part I

In the beginning of June, we got to spend 10 days in beautiful Hawaii!!  It was the best vacation.  Greg stood up in his friend Chai's wedding, so that was the reason we got to go.  We left Wednesday mid morning and arrived in Hawaii around 8:00 that night.  It was a long day of traveling.  Three different flights, which I think was a good thing for Aaliyah and for us to get up and stretch.  I thought she did really well on the plane.  Just one lady complained, "I know she needs to run around, but she's been kicking my seat for the past 2 hours".  I wasn't too happy about that, but everyone else around us, said she did great!  The first three nights we stayed at a hotel near the wedding festivities.  Thursday evening they had a pre-wedding get together outside.  I got my first Henna tattoo which was really cool.  Friday was the Catholic wedding ceremony and the Hindu ceremony.   Saturday they had another Hindu ceremony in the morning, then we met everyone for lunch.

It was nice there was an extra seat for this flight!  All the other flights we were full.
